For a good reading you need two settings right, the meter type (Disc- or LED) and the value which indicates how many rotations or LED-blinks it takes for 1 kWh. Basically there are four options:

  1. Scanning LED-Meter
  2. Scanning Discmeter
  3. Manual tapping LED-meter
  4. Manual tapping Discmeter

Scan LED-meter

  • Point the camera of your iPhone or iPad on the LED of the meter.
  • If the app registers the next flash correctly you will hear a beep.
  • There must be at least  two consecutive flashes registered for a reading.
  • The value displayed shows the power consumption in Watts.
  • With several consecutive flashes energy consumption is displayed in a graph.

Scan Discmeter

  • Point the camera of your iPhone or iPad on the metal disc of the meter.
  • If the app registers the passing of the marker on the disc correctly you will hear a beep.
  • There must be at least  two consecutive registrations for a good reading.
  • The value displayed shows the power consumption in Watts.
  • With several consecutive registrations energy consumption is displayed in a graph.
  • As the speed of a discmeter might be very low it might be more convienient to try Manual mode as well

When scanning doesn’t work for any reason you might try the “”Manual Mode”. After selecting “Manual” you also have to set the right rotation or blinking value. As it doesn’t matter anyway, the values “imp/kWh” and “rev/kWh” are mixed in one list. Instead of using your camera to scan, you use your finger to tap. Try to synchronise your tapping with each LED-blink or discmarker passing by. Good luck 🙂
